Bathroom remodeling for greater Birmingham
CB Built Homes is a Birmingham-area remodel GC. Bathroom remodel is in scope today. One team runs the job from walkthrough to punch list, with the scope in writing before anyone opens a wet wall.

A bathroom remodel fails in places you cannot see if waterproofing is rushed
Dated tile. Leaking shower pans. Poor ventilation. Cramped layouts. Half-finished DIY that looks fine until the next soft spot. Those are the problems a bathroom remodel is supposed to solve.
The fear is a pretty shower that fails in two seasons, or living with plastic on the floor while nobody owns the schedule. We care about what is behind the tile, not just the finish photo.
We are licensed and insured. Bathroom remodel is single-job work we do now. Custom homes are a deliberate next step, not the claim this page is making. You can read more about who we are on our About page.
Bath work grounded in the details that last
The cream tile shower on this page is in Homewood. Stacked cream tile, a glass panel, bronze fixtures, a pebble mosaic floor, a recessed niche, and a tiled bench. That is what the photo shows. See bathroom remodel in Homewood.
The large tiled bathroom is a separate job in Mountain Brook. Marble-look walls, a freestanding tub, a glass shower, a wood double vanity, gold fixtures, and geometric floor tile. Two cities. Two jobs. We do not invent a same-job story across them, and we do not invent square footage, a budget, a timeline, or a homeowner name. See bathroom remodel in Mountain Brook.
The two-toned tile shower is also our work. The city is not labeled yet, so we do not invent one.
Homewood and Mountain Brook each have their own bath pages. For remodeling in those cities more broadly, see Homewood and Mountain Brook. Ask on Contact if that is your city.
Planning a kitchen at the same time? See kitchen remodeling, plus Vestavia Hills kitchen remodel and Birmingham kitchen remodel. For remodeling in those cities more broadly, see Vestavia Hills, Birmingham, and Hoover.
Outdoor living is a sibling trade. See decks and outdoor living.

How we approach a bathroom
Walk the wet areas
We walk the bath and how you actually use it. Leak history, ventilation, storage that fails, and the rooms the bath opens into all go on the list before anyone talks fixtures.
Diagnose the substrate
When the job needs it, we look at what is behind the tile: pan, board, plumbing, and whether a cosmetic refresh would fail. We would rather say that on the visit than after demo.
Scope in writing
You get a written scope before demo. What we are doing, what it costs, and what would change it. Waterproofing is part of that conversation, not a surprise line later.
Protect the house
Adjacent rooms get protected. We sequence the wet work so one trade does not wreck the last. A bath remodel should not feel like moving out of your own house.
Punch list, then done
We walk the finished work together, write the punch list, and finish it before we call the job complete.
What a bathroom remodel usually includes
A cosmetic refresh is new paint and fixtures over a room that still works. A real remodel often includes waterproofing, substrate, plumbing, and ventilation decisions. We say which one you actually have before work starts.
Typical scope pieces, always project-specific:
- Showers and tubs
- Tile and waterproofing assemblies
- Vanities, flooring, and lighting
- Ventilation as the wet area needs it
- Plumbing moves the plan requires
Walk-in showers, storage, and accessibility come up on the estimate visit. We do not invent product lines here. We do not publish dollar ranges or an average Birmingham bath cost. A free estimate is the honest number.
We run the whole bath job as the GC. Tile, showers, waterproofing, and the trades the plan needs, under one written scope. That is the work. Not a pretty finish photo with a rushed pan behind it.
Right fit for a bath remodel
Good fit
A primary or secondary bath remodel in Birmingham metro and nearby cities we serve. You are willing to fix substrate issues when we find them. You want a GC, not a weekend patch. You care about waterproofing done right.
Not the best fit
Just regrout over a failing pan when the right fix is a rebuild. We will say that plainly, without scare tactics. Emergency leak stop with no remodel intent. Projects outside our service area without a clear reason to travel.
The first visit is a walkthrough, questions about leak history and must-haves, and a written next step. No pressure language. More about who we are is on About.
Plan your bathroom remodel
Walkthroughs are free. Tell us your city, which bath, any leak history, must-haves (walk-in shower, storage, accessibility), and a rough timeline. We will send a written next step. Real bath work on this site is labeled by city when the city is confirmed.

Bathroom remodel FAQ
Do you remodel bathrooms in the Birmingham area?
Yes. CB Built Homes remodels bathrooms across greater Birmingham cities we serve. Proof on this page includes Homewood shower work and a Mountain Brook tiled bath (separate jobs).
What makes a bathroom remodel different from a cosmetic refresh?
A real remodel often includes waterproofing, substrate, plumbing, and ventilation decisions, not only new paint and fixtures. We scope that honestly before work starts.
Can you remodel a shower only?
Sometimes. Scope depends on the condition behind the walls and how the wet area is built. We will say if a larger fix is needed.
Are you a custom home builder or a remodeler?
We are a remodel GC first. Baths, kitchens, decks, and related single-job work are the core. Custom homes are a deliberate path we are growing toward. This page is about bathroom remodel. See also kitchen remodeling and decks and outdoor living.
How do I get an estimate?
Call (205) 383-7177 or use the form on Contact. Share which bath, any leak history, and what you want the room to do.
